Food can be dropped off at the Church Barn during our usual opening hours. There are also collection points in:
Bishop's Castle - Co-op and Spar
Lybury North - Community Shop
Churchstoke - Co-op
We have no freezer space and extremely limited fridge space. Cupboard goods with a long life are always the most useful.
Rice, pasta, tinned food, breakfast cereals, UHT milk or milk alternative, tea, coffee, loo roll, toiletries, baby products, pet food are just a few examples.
We also welcome fresh fruit and veg if you're able to drop them off close to our opening times.

Warm Space and Café
We're a warm space. You're welcome to come in from the cold and join us during our usual opening hours.
We have a mini café with free tea and coffee and biscuits. Have a brew and a sit down, join us for a chat, or browse a magazine.
There's a play area too for the kids.
How does it work?
No referral needed. If you need us, please use us.
New and returning customers just need to come in and check-in with our volunteer at the welcome desk. Then have a sit down and cuppa while you wait to be called up to the counter.
We'll ask new customers a few questions such as getting your contact details, how many are in your household and if there are any dietary requirements etc, but nothing invasive. If you tell us you need a hand then we'll take you at your word.
When you get to the counter, our volunteers will serve you with groceries.
Our aim is to supplement your weekly shop, not to replace it. We will help top up your shop, but we also have to share our supplies amongst a growing number of households.
Volunteering
We are a charity, entirely run by volunteers.
We have a rota of volunteers to staff the counter and serve customers, and we also need people who can drive to deliver food parcels to households who can't come to us.
If you'd like to talk to us about volunteering, please email bishopscastlefoodbank@gmail.com
Abattoir
The old abattoir, behind the old Stars newsagent on Church Street, has been derelict since the 1980s. Owned by Shropshire Council, we are hopeful that it can be restored (with Bishop’s Castle Community Land Trust) and become a permanent home for the food bank.
